Sorge's is a well-known local Corning restaurant that has been serving customers for more than 50 years. Unfortunately, in December of 2008, a fire gutted the building, leaving only the storefront skeleton intact. Johnson-Schmidt & Associates resurrected the beloved building to include an improved restaurant on the first floor and two apartments on the second. The original storefront was restored to its former character, guided by historic photographs.
The project received NY Main Street funds, historic preservation tax credits, and 444-a property tax incentives. It has also been designated as an individual local historic landmark. J-S&A provided complete architectural services and preservation consultation to secure the historic preservation tax credits and the listing as a local historic landmark.
