The Hawkes Building development converted the second and third floors of a former glass manufacturing studio, showroom, and offices into eight bespoke market-rate apartments. The design and construction of the project aimed to maintain the historic integrity of the building, allowing repurposed spaces to still reflect their original use by showcasing the remnants of industrial glass production machinery and lift pulleys. With the support of historic tax credits, this project was completed in 2015 and was recognized by the Preservation League of New York State with the Excellence in Historic Preservation Award.
