Mount Saviour Monastery

  • 231 Monastery Rd, Pine City, NY
  • Budget:
    $150,000

The J-S&A corridor addition for the Mount Saviour Monastery aims to improve the accessibility and comfort of the campus. The original 1962 campus was built and designed by architect, Ron Cassetti. Separate buildings were connected by a path between the chapel, commissary, library, and dormitory. However, some of the aging monks found it difficult to traverse this walkway during the winter, and handicapped accessibility also proved to be an issue. Facing the challenge of creating an unheated passageway that offers reasonable comfort and protection from the elements while providing accessibility to the campus facilities, the J-S&A addition maintains the design integrity of the historic campus with improved functionality.
